Sustainability
Better food.
Fewer compromises.
Sustainability is what happens when you take food, packaging, and people seriously at the same time. Here's where we stand today — written plainly, no greenwashing.
Sourced close to home
We buy from Ontario producers wherever the season allows it. Shorter supply chains mean fresher food, lower transport emissions, and dollars that stay in the local food economy.
No single-use plastic where it matters
Compostable packaging on every catering tray. Bulk beverages by default — coffee carafes and 1L glass juice bottles instead of individual plastic cups. We pick up the empties on our next delivery.
Order to demand
Every order is built to spec the day of. We don't prep speculatively. The result is less food waste — what we produce gets eaten, and what little doesn't goes to a verified food rescue partner.
Honest macros
High-protein, real-ingredient food without the marketing theatre. No artificial sweeteners, no seed-oil hero packaging, no claims we can't back with a line in the spec.
Routes that make sense
We cluster catering deliveries by neighbourhood and time window. Fewer half-empty trucks crossing the city, fewer kilometres per meal delivered.
A small team, paid well
Sustainability includes the people making the food. Our kitchen and delivery team are full-time, full-benefit employees, not gig workers.
Honest disclosure
We don't have a third-party sustainability audit yet — we're a small team, and the cost of a real audit is best spent later when our footprint justifies it. If something on this page changes, we'll update it here. If you spot something inconsistent or want sourcing details on a specific ingredient, write to catering@breakprotein.com and we'll answer with the truth.
